Reading and loving books

We received this interesting email from Louise Emere in Botswana:

‘I can't imagine what it must be like not being able to read. Reading is so important to me. I never go anywhere without a book or magazine. We are lucky here in Botswana as there are so many organisations in the UK and the USA that collect and distribute good quality, second hand books to Africa. What I love most is that the children who donate them all write their names and a little about themselves in the books and it gives you a really special feeling when you realise the link across the seas that is being made. The children here just love the books. Reading is really a way out of so many situations and unpleasant circumstances. When I first arrived in this little town I was devastated because there was nothing to do. And then I discovered the little mine library and it was like finding heaven. JUST LOVELY!’
